Let's Uplift the World

Posted on 12:26 by Unknown

Social Networks are changing our lives. We are connecting with more people than ever before and having meaningful exchanges that have the potential to uplift us for hours if not days on end. I'm always looking for ways to uplift myself and others, and Social Networks like Facebook and Twitter offer easy ways to achieve this.

I'm thinking we could start a movement of uplifting people through social media and watch it spread via the amazing viral power of sharing!

We'll start with our own networks first. Even taking just 10 to 15 minutes at a time can make a huge difference in the lives of dozens of others. Here are some tips on how to do that.

TIP ONE: UPLIFTING THE LIVE STREAM

Facebook and Twitter offer a live news stream featuring the recent posts of your friends and connections. To uplift people, check out your news stream for interesting posts and respond to them. On Facebook click "Like" and write a comment about how you liked the post. On Twitter click "ReTweet" to post their tweet to your friends. This kind of interaction makes a huge difference to people and helps create a more lively conversation.

TIP TWO: DROP BY AND SAY HELLO

On Facebook you can go to your friend's wall and post something uplifting. Tell them you're thinking about them and ask how their dog is, or tell them you appreciate them in some way. Receiving nice personal notes like this can bring a smile and they'll be uplifted whenever they think about you. You can also join groups of like minded folks and visit the group pages to say hello and uplift others. Click like and comment on their posts and also post your own.

TIP THREE: FOLLOW FRIDAY

On Twitter, Fridays is the day to recommend people from your network to others using the #ff tag. Select several of your favorite peeps, folks who have ReTweeted you in the past, or mentioned you to their networks, and include them in your post.

Here's one I did today, since it's Friday!

TIP FOUR: BE INVENTIVE

What other ways can you think of to uplift others through social media? It only takes a few seconds to make someone's day. Think of what could happen if more and more people are feeling happy? Let's uplift the world now!
